“May the Lord bless you and keep you; make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24-26
Peace is found in moments not of my creating, but of God’s. Yet it is within me to embrace the peace He alone brings. This peace can be found beside a mountain stream, along a mountain trail or beside the mighty ocean. It can be found in the smell of a newborn baby or the scent of the one your heart loves. It can reveal itself in moments of silence while we are alone or the the roar of voices of friends and family gathered in moments of celebration, worship, and even when brought together in grief.
True peace-the one which is beyond our mind’s understanding is never external, but is found in the quietness of our soul. It is discovered in embracing stillness, when we cease struggling against whatever it is we find ourselves to be at war with, when we sink into our Father, abandon ourselves to Him, relax our hold and loosen our grip upon whatever we cling to in fear of loss or control. It is found when we let go so we might hold on to that which truly matters.
