He met me at the door early one morning as I returned from the Gym. I was sweaty. I was tired. I needed a shower. But He didn’t care. Before my hand turned the knob I knew He was there. He was singing to me. “I miss my time with you. Those moments together. I need to be with you each day. And it hurts me when you say you’re too busy…There’s a longing in my heart, wanting more than just a part of you. I miss my time with you.” 1
I opened the door. His presence was bigger than the room. All other plans melted in this moment. The noise around and within me died. My ears rang with the silence broken only by the longing whisper of my King.
“Sit with me for a while.”
I made my way to the place set aside for us, drawn by His goodness, moved by His grace. My Bible and journal sat waiting. I heard Him speak once more.
“Sit with me…in my presence. Hold no part of yourself from me. In the silence you are mine and I am yours.”
“It’s so noisy, Lord. I’m so tired of all the noise.”
“Shhh.” The sound comforted me like a parent comforting their child. I closed my eyes aware only of His voice. The voice that calmed the storm with a single command. “Siópaó!” was now speaking to my mind, soul, and spirit. I knew that word translated meant “Be silent!” 2
He continued. “Come into my throne-room. Come into the silence of my heart-as the deep things within me cry into and search out the deepest parts of you.”
My heart began to sing.
“In the silence
You are speaking
In the quiet I can feel the fire
And it’s burning, burning deeply
Burning all that it is you desire to be silent, in me…” 3
The splendor of His holiness permeated the farthest corners and hovered over me so that the weight His glory brought me to my face and saturated my soul. I smoothed the pages of my Bible beneath me, now dotted with tears, not certain of how long I had been in this place.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you. Reveal it. Kick over stones. Throw up some dust. Change me! Purify me. Refine me.! Here I am! Renew my thoughts. Shatter wrong thinking patterns. Show me your ways. Lead me in your path. You are my crown. You are my righteousness! You alone are my God and my King!” 4
I breathed in the peace, the stillness of the moment. The barking noise had been muzzled for one moment in time. The Truth who was, is, and will always be the victor wears the crown of righteousness. He is not always the loudest voice in the room. But He is the most compelling. So compelling, in fact, others must shout to be heard above His silence.
The truth isn’t always the loudest voice in the room. But it will always be revealed.

He waits for you today-The Truth. He is your rest. He is your peace. He is Jesus. The Christ. The Son of the Living God! He says to you, “Come to me, and I will give you rest.” 5
My story may sound crazy to you. You may think it insanity to meet with Jesus. I can answer you only as Paul answered the people of Corinth.
“Since we are those who stand in holy awe of the Lord, we make it our passion to persuade others to turn to him. We know that our lives are transparent before the God who knows us fully, and I hope that we are also well known to your consciences….If we are out of our minds in a blissful, divine ecstasy, it is for God, but if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit. For it is Christ’s love that fuels our passion and motivates us, because we are absolutely convinced that he has given his life for all of us. This means all died with him, so that those who live should no longer live self-absorbed lives but lives that are poured out for him—the one who died for us and now lives again.” 6
Do you know Him? Will you meet Him today? Without Him I would be lost, bound, captive. With Him there is a freedom one cannot explain with mere words. Come and see! Come and hear! He is standing at the door. Turn the handle, my friend, and step in. He says to you, “Sit with me for a while!”
