Every wise woman builds her house, but a foolish one tears it down with her own hands.
Proverbs 14:1 BSB
Every wise woman encourages and builds up her family, but a foolish woman over time will tear it down by her own actions.
Proverbs 14:1 TPT
Women, I want to encourage you today! Seek wisdom! Choose wisdom! Chase it down as the most precious jewel. It is greater than diamonds and more beautiful than pearls.
We can build or tear down with the words we choose to speak to our family members-our spouse, our children, our parents, our friends. This includes words we post on social media, folks! It grieves my spirit when I hear a parent cursing their children, or telling others how bad their child is. I’ve been in Wal-Mart and heard parents yelling at their children, using foul language, telling them how horrible they are. Or yelling at the children to stop yelling, while they themselves are demonstrating yelling. THIS IS VERBAL ABUSE! And we as believers are not to be of the world. Remember who you are. You are a daughter of the most high God! You are seated IN HEAVENLY places WITH and IN Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6) So let us act like it!
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Ephesians 4:29 NIV
I am not saying we are not to discipline our children. We are. But when we do so we are to use wisdom!
It also hurts my heart when I hear a spouse complaining openly about the other spouse, not seeking wisdom or counsel in private but complaining for the sake of complaining with no hope to receive any help.
The Word of God gives several instructions on this matter.
- Encourage one another and build each other up…(I Thessalonians 5:11)
- It is easier to conquer a strong city than to win back a friend whom you’ve offended. Their walls go up, making it nearly impossible to win them back. Sharing words of wisdom is satisfying to your inner being. It encourages you to know that you’ve changed someone else’s life. Your words are so powerful that they will kill or give life…(Proverbs 18:19-21)
Let us be the creators and builders God meant us to be. A builder establishes, fortifies, restores, and sets in place. Let us choose this day to speak life!
If you cannot fathom the ability to do so, I beseech you, seek wisdom from someone you know to be a life speaker. You’ve got this, Mom! You ARE a life giver!
