We’ve been in the house for a week trying to recover from a virus. Last night we were feeling a bit better so we braved the snow for a drink run. We’ve been drinking herbal tea and water, so a little carbonation was calling our name.
The little convenience store we entered was playing KLove. Don asked about it and the clerk began to share how his life had changed because of Jesus. He told us that he had been addicted to Fentanyl, had ODd twice. But had been given another chance and then another. He told us he’d been clean for two years and even though he was enrolled in a program there is no way he could have made it without Jesus. I am familiar with the meds he is on and mentioned that I was glad he was getting support. He responded positively but reenforced the fact that even with the medical help he would not be holding down a job or have a relationship with his baby or be able to provide a car for his family if he had not been saved. He said there’s just no way someone like me gets to live this live without someone bigger than all of us saving me.
The cross is bigger than our circumstances. More powerful than our Sin. And mightier than our shame. It is not the cross alone, but the blood of Jesus, the light of the world, who destroys the work of darkness in our lives and in us when we submit to Him. Oh, what a savior!
No far is too far for the outstretched mighty hand of our God.
“Is anything too difficult for Yahweh?” Gen 18:14
“‘Ah Lord Yahweh! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You…““Behold, I am Yahweh, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?””
Jeremiah 32:17, 27 LSB
