Here’s the one thing I crave from God,Psalm 27:4-8 TPT
the one thing I seek above all else:
I want the privilege of living with him every moment in his house,
finding the sweet loveliness of his face,
filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace.
I want to live my life so close to him
that he takes pleasure in my every prayer.
In his shelter in the day of trouble, that’s where you’ll find me,
for he hides me there in his holiness.
He has smuggled me into his secret place,
where I’m kept safe and secure—
out of reach from all my enemies.
Triumphant now, I’ll bring him my offerings of praise,
singing and shouting with ecstatic joy!
Yes, listen and you can hear
the fanfare of my shouts of praise to the Lord!
God, hear my cry. Show me your grace.
Show me mercy, and send the help I need!
Lord, when you said to me, “Seek my face,”
my inner being responded,
“I’m seeking your face with all my heart.”
I pulled into the boat dock on my way to work. I needed a moment. My mind was exhausted and my body was weary. I looked over the water, for me a place of peace, took in a breath and spoke to the King of my heart.
“I need a moment alone with you, Father. Just me and you…alone.”
Neither one of us spoke. We didn’t have to. He’s known me my whole life. He knew me before I was born. He knows my thoughts before I have them. He knows my heart and feels my heartbeat. I’ve known Him, or have been getting to know Him, since I was a small child. He is everything to me. Without Him I don’t know how I would breathe. I can truly understand Mylon Le Favre’s lyrics as he penned Without Him:
Without Him I could do nothing
Without Him I’d surely fail
Oh, Without Him I would be drifting
Like a ship without a sail
Without Him I would be dying
Without Him I’d be enslaved
And without Him my life would be worthless
But with Jesus, thank God I am saved
I closed my eyes despite the beautiful creation before me. I could feel His mighty presence stirring around me, beside me, and within me. My heart rate calmed. Rested. I took another breath, deeper-breathing in the sweetness of the moment. My mind focused on Him alone. I didn’t need a word, only His presence.
I was ready. I had obeyed the call of my heart to seek His face. I know, as I have known for as long as I can recall: With Him I can do all things, nothing will be impossible. (1) With Him I can do mighty things, I can scale a wall, advance against a troop, overcome the obstacles and defeat the enemy in my life. (2) He makes my feet as surefooted as a deer so I can climb any mountain. (3) (Insert Julie Andrews singing as she climbs a mountain.) He makes me steadfast. He plots my course and directs the sails with the breath of His Spirit. (4) In Him is life! A life full and overflowing with the goodness of God. (5) In Him I am free. I live in complete freedom when I live in Him. (6) He says I am not worthless, but am a treasured possession. (7)

Thank you, Daddy God, for Jesus! Thank you for the Holy Spirit. And thank You for your presence, in which I find a rested heart.
As for you, my friend, do you know Him? He calls to you today. He is closer than a breath. You need only call upon the name of the Lord and He is there. You may not have a boat dock to visit. Isaac went into the fields to pray, Moses went to the mountains, Jesus prayed in the wilderness, in an olive grove, on a mountain, and in the temple. He told us to go into our room to pray. In other words pray wherever you can. But pray!
In the words of Mr. Le Favre:
Jesus, oh Jesus
Do you know Him today
Please don’t turn Him away
Oh Jesus, my Jesus
Without Him how lost would I be
