In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.John 1:1-5
God’s word, expressions of His vast thoughts, both logos and rhema, releases creation and speaks to a conclusion. When His thoughts are uttered and released something happens. Light appears. Chaos becomes order. Gardens grow and teem with life. Worlds are created. Stars are scattered across the sky and throughout space, so numerous it is unfathomable. His voiced proclamations travel, and universes continue to be formed. Light remains to move across time and space from three single words spoken millennia ago, “Let there be…” And there was, there is, and there will be.
The same God who spoke the Word in the beginning speaks the Word in my life and in yours. This magnificent God is more than able to create miracles in our lives. In the beginning He released the depths of his soul and spirit as He flung universes across the sky. He is King of all creation. This King speaks into me and into you, releasing the depths of who He is into us.
All we need do is choose Him and humbly submit to His voice. Choose Life. When we seek Him light appears, chaos becomes order, the gardens of our soul and spirit grow and become full of life. Our body is strengthened and we are made whole.
Just as Samuel cried out to the Lord, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” (1) Just as Isaiah responded, “Here am I, send me.” (2) Or as Mary submitted, “I am the Lord’s servant, let it be unto me according to your word.” (3)
Are there empty places in your life that need to be breathed into? Are there dark places waiting for the light to shine? I would encourage you to read Deuteronomy 30:15-20. You choose-you choose life and light when you decide to love Him and to follow His voice. Or you choose dead places and dark spaces when you decide to ignore His call or follow His instructions for your life. If you do not know how to hear His voice then go to His Word! It is His word that is “a lamp for our feet and a light for our path.” (4)
Choose life daily this week by speaking the Word over the difficult situations in your life. A simple Google search will provide several scriptures to deal with whatever situation you are facing. Take the time to write down the problem for which you need a solution. Then write down the Words of God that demonstrate His power to change your situation or your your attitude about the situation. Proclaim the words of life and light aloud. Words create. He is the Word! He is the power who turns death into life and ashes into beauty.
